Facelift

Facelift

What is it?

Facelift is a surgical procedure aimed at rejuvenating the face by eliminating sagging skin, wrinkles, and age-related changes in muscles and tissues.

The goal of a facelift is to improve the contours of the face, restore skin firmness, and create a younger, fresher appearance.

When is facelift effective?

Sagging skin in the cheeks, chin, and neck areas
Loss of facial contour clarity
Deep nasolabial folds
Prominent wrinkles on the face and neck
Sagging brows and forehead

What are the types of facelift techniques?

Classic Facelift

Involves facelift and neck lift

Designed for patients with pronounced age-related changes

Mini Facelift

A less invasive procedure for correcting mild age-related changes

Shorter incisions and faster recovery

Endoscopic Facelift

Performed with special equipment (endoscope)

Small incisions, minimal tissue trauma

Often used for correction of the upper third of the face (forehead, brows)

SMAS Lift (Superficial Musculo-Aponeurotic System):

Corrects not only the skin but also deeper facial structures (muscles, fascia)

Provides a longer-lasting and more pronounced effect

Neck Lift

Focuses on the neck area and the lower third of the face

How do you prepare for a facelift procedure?

Preparation for the facelift surgery is a crucial stage that ensures safe procedure and maximum result effectiveness.

It includes several key steps:

01 Consultation with the surgeon

Evaluation of skin condition, subcutaneous tissues, and bone structure

Discussion of expected results and choosing the appropriate technique

02 Performing tests

Blood tests, urine tests, coagulation indicators, ECG, etc., to determine health status.

Are there any contraindications for facelift?

If there are relative contraindications, the doctor may recommend postponing the surgery until risks are eliminated (e.g., during pregnancy and lactation).

Absolute contraindications:
01 Severe chronic diseases in an advanced stage

Decompensated diabetes

Uncontrolled hypertension

Severe cardiovascular diseases

Cancer

02 Infectious diseases

Active viral, bacterial, or fungal infections

High fever or presence of inflammation in the body

03 Autoimmune diseases, lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis
04 Coagulation disorders

Hemophilia, thrombocytopenia, or use of anticoagulants that cannot be discontinued.

How is the facelift procedure performed?

01 Anesthesia

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, depending on the type of surgery.

02 Incisions

Incisions are usually made along the hairline, around the ears, and, if necessary, under the chin. This ensures that scars will be hidden after healing.

03 Tissue correction

Skin is separated from subcutaneous structures

Muscles and connective tissues are lifted to restore contour clarity

Excess skin is removed.

04 Closing the incisions

Incisions are sutured with self-dissolving stitches or special threads

Drains may be placed to remove excess fluids.

05 Completing the procedure

Sterile dressings are applied to protect the operated areas.

How does recovery proceed after a facelift?

01 First few days

Swelling, bruising, mild discomfort that decreases over 1-2 weeks

02 1-2 weeks

Stitches removal (if non-dissolving stitches were used)

03 1st month

Main swelling subsides, and the result becomes noticeable

04 3-6 months

Full tissue recovery and final effect.

A facelift provides long-lasting results (10+ years, depending on technique and individual factors), but requires thorough preparation, professional execution, and proper care during rehabilitation.
